Good Catch

about

“Good Catch" is a bold self-portrait masked with ironic grandeur.
Offering a counterintuitive approach to self-love, Lauringer is fully aware of her imperfections while sugarcoating them with a confident fake smile. The song is screaming “good luck finding someone better” and whispering “please don’t leave me”.
A new layer is waiting to be discovered at every listen. At first confident, humoristic and lighthearted, "Good Catch” slowly uncovers the depth of Lauringer’s fear of being left alone, all while making space for self-acceptance and -awareness. The choice of sound sets a nostalgic mood and is an excellent contestant for the last dance at a prom night. Picture Marilyn Monroe but erase the elegance.

lyrics

Verse:
Lately I started a list for you
After you told me you needed space
I drew a line in the middle, divided the good and the better
To knock some sense into you before it’s too late

Pre-Chorus:
Sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees oh I know
So here are some points that will make you miss me so

Chorus:
I am a train wreck at all parties
Spill people’s drinks and break their bottles
Thats how you know you could not get hungover with me

I get so clingy when I’m with you
I spend every second trying to kiss you
But that’s how you know you will never get lonely with me

So please remember in times when you do not think we are a match
That I’m a good catch

Verse:
Lately I’ve worked out a list for you
To save you from making a big mistake
I made some boxes to tick off and options to cross out
So go ahead and see the best of me

Pre-Chorus:
Sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees oh I know (I would know)
So here are some points that would make you miss me so

Chorus:
I am a failure in the kitchen
I leave a big mess and skip the dishes
That’s how you know I would never clean up after you

I am a joke at conversations
Jump topic five times in a sentence
But that’s how you know I will always keep you entertained

So please remember in times when you do not think we are a match
That I’m a good catch
